Raikes Hall team

The Raikes Hall team, left to right: Ann Purdom, Carol Whiteside,
Paul Bonar and Kelly Bonar |
Paul Bonar, manager of the Raikes Hall pub (owned by the Bass brewery)
Kelly Bonar, Paul's 16-year-old daughter
Carol Whiteside, a childminder who is doing a course in local history
Ann Purdom, Carol's mother, who works for a Blackpool printer
Raikes Hall pub now stands surrounded by a housing estate dating
from c. 1912, but the building itself is obviously 18th century. It
was once at the heart of the Raikes Hall Pleasure Gardens, said
to have rivalled the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. The Raikes
Hall team's assignment is to discover the origins of Raikes Hall,
what it must have been like in its heyday and what led to its
demise.
