York Hill

A big well done to the council (or rather the developers)
for making this handy short cut legal.
It's York Hill, by Richer Sounds and the Branch Tavern on the London Road
and links my favourite back passage route
from town back to Preston Circus.
NB the double yellow lines have since been painted over,
making this cycle lane a great place to park your car (see below)!

York Hill

The same route some time later.
Spot the difference! No yellow lines.

York Hill

Hoorah! Double yellows reinstated.

Cheapside

There was a missed opportunity at Cheapside, however.
This would have been much more useful as a contra-flow on the other side of the road.
Err, it's legal to park on a cycle lane and double yellow lines these days?
Looking west to the new station site (New England Quarter),
where cycle lanes are springing up all over the place.

Cheapside

If only this were a contra-flow
instead of just following this one-way street.
A bit pointless really!
View east to London Road, former Sainsbury's and the Hobgoblin.

London Road triangle

London Road has become a slalom for cyclists
what with all the pavemant widening and road narrowing,
but this takes the biscuit – a huge triangle of tarmac sticking out into the road,
a trap for cyclists but with handy illegal parking bays either side.
View North towards the viaduct.

The view south towards Preston Circus.
Err, is it legal to park on double yellow lines these days?

NB this bay has now been legalised for parking!
