of that useless cycle lane near me.

BUT Mark Strong objects: This is NOT a weird cycle lane -
without it Hampden Road would be one-way for bikes
as well as cars closing of a VERY useful link for cyclists.

George Fairbairn writes: We have no shortage of wierd cycle lanes in Liverpool.
I use this one daily.
It's at the junction of Upper Parliament Street and Hope Street.
Cyclists coming along Hope Street who want to turn right into
Upper Parliament Street, are invited to cut across fast-moving traffic
only a few yards from the junction,
to join a cycle path on the opposite pavement,
in the face of fast-moving traffic that has just turned left
out of Upper Parlaiment Street
and is not expecting to see a bike coming towards them
on their side of the road!
Needs nerves of steel and lightening reflexes.

Roy Spillsbury of CTC Cymru writes: Cycle access to proms around the country
is an issue of which I know little, altho' I am a strong proponent.
Llandudno is the last bastion of opposition in this part of Wales.
I am banging on in the local press and gradually the political climate is improving.
However when access is legitimised there is a tendency on the part of the local authority
to over-engineer the infra structure to the peril of cyclists.
It's what you call 'covering your butt' in the event of an action for damages

I send this shot of a local midweek CTC group trundling along Colwyn Bay prom
heading for Pensarn for the usual tea stop.
There's about 15 miles of traffic-free prom from Rhos on Sea to Prestatyn,
about to be increased at both ends.

Most sadly two young lasses perished when they were swept off the slipway
(seen on the right) a couple of years ago.

Barry Wicks writes: Hope you like the attached pic
which was taken on the A590 (Park Road) into Barrow-in-Furness.
It may not be a weird cycle lane but does highlight the
dangers of mixing cycles and pedestrians.
